Secret Keepers

I always have thought of what I would or wouldn’t do when planning my life so perfectly… but with big changes in our future I am realizing planning is out the window, along with having a spring time baby, not finding out the sex of the baby, not telling anyone until after the first trimester is over… etc. When it comes down to it I am willing to admit it is ok to change your mind/plans, mix things up a bit, so if you see me flip-flop I am ok with it and hope you are too! ;)
Speaking of which I thought we would wait to tell our friends and family until about 13 weeks along but as we quickly realized it is so hard to keep such an exciting thing a secret! We really wanted to tell our parents in person and thought Easter would be the best time, although at this point it was still early on and things were still new, but we decided to do it anyway, hiding it was too hard!

The Saturday before Easter Sunday we had planned on having the local chocolate shop Sjaak’s, personalize chocolate eggs for each of the to-be relatives, ie Uncle Drew, Grandma, etc. My mom has been doing this for us for many Easters now so we thought what a fun festive way to tell everyone, we would hand them their egg and have them read their “name” in shock! So we picked up Phil’s 12 year old brother, Kenton and took a trip to Eureka, to pick up the eggs. To make it extra special we wanted to let Kenton in on the surprise, he would be the first to know. After gathering the eggs we could hardly wait to share with our families. Everyone was surprised and excited, as to be expected. And although we swore them to secrecy from the rest of the relatives and friends, we were secretly relieved our job as secret keepers would soon be over!
